I read a great book this summer called Caleb’s Story.  I liked this story because it was historical fiction.  That means it’s a made up story but it has true events from history.  Have you ever read a historical fiction book?  You will be reading one soon so you’re in for a treat.

Anyway, the story takes place in the midwest during the winter.  I like how the author describes the setting and shows the reader how difficult life was for early Americans.  For example Caleb had to go to the barn to feed the horses during a storm and he had to hold onto a rope that had been tied between the barn and the house.  This was to prevent anyone from getting lost.  I found that facinating.
